Welcome to Embrace Sport!
My name is Alan Copland. Founder and MD of Embrace Sport.
When I heard that the company that operated the fantastic Ponteland, Spanish City and Castles Challenge triathlons were no longer going to be able to run the events I just couldn’t stand by and see these prestigious, well regarded occasions be lost so I acquired the intellectual property and set up Embrace Sport. My aim is to carry on the tradition of quality, inclusive events showcasing our fantastic sport.
Although I’m managing the events pretty much singlehandedly (with the help of Debbie, who will be looking after social media and much of your correspondence) and in my spare time between being an Academic Tutor at Sunderland University, coaching swimming & triathlon and mentoring new triathlon coaches I’ve got big plans for 2018. I am looking to make what we offer as inclusive and accessible as possible. For example, we’re partnering with British Triathlon and North Shields Poly junior endurance group to offer a kids duathlon as an option in the Spanish City triathlon and GoTri Junior Duathlon event to get juniors involved and give the Poly valuable experience in running multisport events while hopefully raising some money for the club at the same time. We’re also in advanced discussions with local community groups in Bamburgh to get schools between Seahouses and Berwick involved in the Castles Challenge event.
I’d love to hear from you with your questions, comments and suggestions on how I can make your triathlon experience a good one. Please feel free to drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
